The slightest disappointments prevail among the Tamil film buffs as they didn’t see their matinee idol ‘Chiyaan Vikram’ getting at least a Special mention award for his painstaking performance in ‘I’. On the other end, it offers some relishing delight to see that Vetrimaaran’s Visaranai has bagged ‘Best Regional Film – Tamil’ followed by Samuthirakani – Best Supporting Actor and Late Editor Kishore Te for his editing for the same film. Ritika Singh has bagged ‘Special Mention Awards’ for her scrupulous efforts in debut film as a boxer in ‘Irudhi Suttru’. Maestro Ilayaraja has gained ‘National Awards’ – Best Background Score in Thaara Thappattai for using original native instruments without going for any modern instrumentals.
Amitabh Bachchan has won ‘Best Actor’ for his aged role performance in Piku while Kangana Ranaut becomes the third time National award winner. She has fetched ‘Best Actress’ for an unconventionally exceptional performance in ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has won ‘Best Director’ for his mind-boggling directorial for ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and the film has gained National honours in other categories too. Baahubali has won Best Film Awards and Best Visual Effects.
