Movies with caste discrimination is not new to Tamil cinema, there are so much we have seen like a upper class girl fall in love with lower caste boy and how they survive is shown in either tragic manner or like a happy ending. This also a film which deals with same plot but completely stands out in the making!
A dog which has a predominant role in this film comes alive for initial five minutes but its put forth a strong message of how upper class people will treat the people from a low class! Post to it we see the demise for the dog like human being and its show us how they value it be it a dog or human being.
One beautiful note we see in this movie is, they didn’t showcase any explicit scenes to explain about the caste issues but in the flow of the movie or through the casual scenes they strike the chord bold with indirect treatment.
From then we enter into Pariyan life bankrolled by Kathir who gives excellent performance and he is one strong reason to watch out! Anandhi character is full of innocence and she too tried her best but her few scenes she struggle to get the real emotion is evident!
When movie turns into college life days, there comes yogi babu who gives lively comedies which worked out completely and takes the first half with loads of fun elements.
Everything in the movie is like slow injection be it the love blossoms between Kathir and Anandhi, be it the caste discrimination touches, be it standing for being yourself. At any point, movie is not preachy or dramatic though it takes a serious plot.
Santhosh Narayanan usual beats and slow melody offers nothing new but apt for the pace of the movie whereas cinematography in showcasing the dry land and greenish capture of villages are highlights. Top angle shots at few places have blurry visuals compared to the other glassy frames.
Towards the end, the message they conveyed and the people who realise will become heads down are real success the society needs to take it out! People who have this mentality at least will think once after watching this movie.
After a long time, a movie worth to watch out for all generation with the elements still touches a sensitive subject!
