Test Movie Review
Producer Sashikanth has starts his directorial venture with this film ‘Test’, which has been directly premiered on Netflix without theatrical release. The film features, Madhavan, Nayanthara and Siddarth in the lead roles.
Story
The plot revolves around three main characters, Saravanan (Madhavan), who has a alternative fuel project that will change the course of nation, but is still in need of financial help to prove his experiment. Then his wife (Nayanthara), who has been desperately in need of conceiving a baby. And then Arjun (Siddharth), a top-league cricketer, who is on the verge of ending his career. A Test match will turn the lives of these individuals upside-down.
Positives
The star-cast is something brilliant as bringing together a bunch of powerhouse talents is surreal. Madhavan, Siddarth, Meera Jasmine and Nayanthara are actors with greater calibers. Their screen presence is good and appreciation. Then it’s cinematography and editing that gives depth to the scenes.
Negatives
The basic story itself is boring and outdated. With the ongoing trend of IPL and T20, the Test Match actually doesn’t let the audiences connect with it. Moreover, none of the characters earn sympathy nor wrath upon them. They look so dull in spite of the actor’s performances. Madhavan goes overdose with performance, Nayanthara has nothing to perform and Siddarth alone tries to stick to his role convincing, but no use due to the weak characterisations. The entire runtime is loaded with boredom and predictable storyline.
Overall, Test is a disappointing film that neither has an offbeat treatment or a commercial presentation. Outdated story, fallible screenplay and unconvincing climax leaves us disappointed at the end.
