Sarkaru Vaari Paata Movie Review
For the ones, who aren’t completely aware of filmmaker Parasuram, it is best to identify him with his magnum opus hit ‘Geetha Govindam’ released in 2018. The filmmaker has now collaborated with Mahesh Babu for the movie ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’. Lots of huge expectations and hopes have been pinned on this movie as Mahesh Babu Fans desperately wanted a blockbuster entertainer from their matinee idol. So what’s the result? Let us check out.
Mahesh (Mahesh Babu) lost his parents in childhood as they committed suicide due to their inability to pay back a loan of Rs.15, 000. Years, later we see him as a young successful tycoon as the head of Mahi Finance Corporation in the USA, where it facilitates loans, and in case of default, he would make sure of letting their heads spin. We come across Kalavathi (Keerthy Suresh), a hardcore gambler, who chisels Mahesh for $10,000 for her pleasure. She even threatens of letting her father interfere if he continues to pressure her for payback. Nothing hampers the intensity of Mahesh as he travels all the way to India to get his money, and bounces with her father Rajendranath (Samuthirakani), a cruel corrupt businessman. Things get awry when Mahesh reveals that he owns him a loan of Rs. 10,000Cr, which leaves everything discombobulated. So what’s the twist and surprise element in this forms the crux of the story.
Mahesh Babu always inclines to sophisticated alignments in all his movies. Even the ones with the commercial flavor, he doesn’t try to flex his verbal mannerisms beyond a certain limit. In contrast, we come across a different Mahesh Babu, who thoroughly enjoys his characterization. Even during the sluggish moments in the movie, the humor and his ability to express it well makes the audience entertained. Nonetheless, Keerthy Suresh is a big disappointment as her character and performance start irking us to a certain extent. Of course, she has worked a lot on her looks, and her dancing skills need no analysis, but then, her character could have been neatly written. Samuthirakani takes a cakewalk with his performance.
The first half proceeds like a swift with lots of entertainment. Even the moments in the second half are totally enjoyable, but once, the social issues pop up and the preaching moments begin, we tend to get distracted. Naturally, the basic gist of this movie itself revolves around a sensitive concept of how many nationalized banks wave off the huge debts owned by tycoons, but torture an ordinary individual for thousands of rupees.
Parasuram has been very illustrious for adding the perfect dose of humor to his narration. In this movie, he has done it appropriately which works out good results for the movie. Technically, it’s music director Thaman all the way as he keeps scoring brownie points with his songs and BGM.
Overall, Sarkaru Vaari Paata is a decent entertainer that majorly banks on Mahesh Babu’s screen presence and Parasuram’s hilarious insertion into the screenplay. Although there are a few sluggish moments in the screenplay, it’s a watchable one.
