Sarileru Neekevvaru Movie Review
A man’s mission to sort down the issues of his well wisher’s family facing isn’t something more off a newfangled tale, isn’t it? We have seen it zillion times across the South Indian movies and now Mahesh Babu’s Sarileru Neekevvaru is the latest one to join this league. The film owns a premise that revolves around a Major named Ajay Krishna (Mahesh Babu). He leads a team in Kashmir for a rescue mission, where his teammate is brutally injured. Succumbing to a bizarre situation, he is unable to attend his sister’s wedding. Krishna decides to go on his behalf and make things better for the family and later reveal the condition of his friend at the appropriate time. As soon as landing in Kurnool for the marriage preparations, he learns that the family is already troubled by a local MLA-goon (Prakash Raj).
From Ajith Kumar’s Veeram or its remake in Telugu with Pawan Kalyan, the stories have remained the same with the slight change in protagonist’s character. But what you get here as a baggage of boon is Mahesh Babu’s characterization and performance. After a long hiatus, he gets us indulged in abundant entertainment through his performance. Over the past couple of years, the roles he had essayed have been completed bounded to complex and serious ones. In fact, many had their trolls on him stating that he is expressionless. Well, with this film there’s a lot to get amused. From his attempt to give a best dance and offers lots of fun-filled moments, there’s pretty good entertainment. On the other end, there’s a flaw bounded script, where certain things irk us hugely. Especially, the character of Rashmika Mandanna is terribly annoying. Having claimed this film to be a family entertainer, the scenes like staging a rape scene from a girl’s end is totally disgusting.
Getting on with the performances, Mahesh Babu is the showstopper here. Next to him, it’s Vijayashanthi, who gives a commendable performance. A best comeback to make indeed!! Prakash Raj looks too stereotypical with his performance for he has wore the greasepaint for such roles several times.
On the whole, Sarileru Neekevvaru will not disappoint Mahesh Babu fans, but as a film it doesn’t engross us completely.
