Oh My Dog Movie Review
There’s always a strong theory that is proven time and again from Hollywood, Bollywood, and even any regional movie industry. When a Production house has a clarity, there will be flow of good quality contents. This might look like an exaggeration, but Suriya-Jyotika’s 2D Entertainment has been consistently proving this paradigm. Having delivered top-notch contents based on different genres, issues and themes, the producers are here with a feel-good family entertainer titled ‘Oh My Dog’. The intriguing part is the three generation of actors – Vijaykumar, Arun Vijay and Arnav sharing the screen space together.
The story is set against the backdrops of Ooty, where the little boy Arnav comes across as a blind Siberian Husky pup and names it Simba. Initially, his family comprising father (Arun Vijay), mother (Mahima Nambiar) and grandfather (Vijaykumar) are dead against his wishes. But sooner, they get acquainted to this pet. When it’s time for Simba to participate in the annual kennel club competition, the antagonist Fernandez (Vinay), who had ordered to kill the little Siberian pup gets shocked to see it again. He hatches evil plans to stop the dog from winning the competition. Will Simba resist the challenges and manage to win the tournament?
Arun Vijay has showcased his emotional avatars in many movies prior to his major breakthrough as an action packed actor in Yennai Arindhaal. However, it went unnoticed many times. After many years, we get to see him shine in such a character. Maybe, directors can now opt to give him similar roles as well. Arnav, the little kid has exerted an impeccable performance. It’s great to see the three generation of actors together including Vijaykumar. Actor Vinay keeps surprising us with his antagonistic characters, and he is at his best in this movie.
Director Sorav has come up with a decent writing, and his screenwriting is appreciable. The first hour swifts with lots of fun, and the second hour has prominence for emotional moments. The musical score by Nivas K Prasanna helps a lot in enhancing the movie.
On the whole, Oh My Dog is a feel-good entertainer that is strongly recommended for the family audiences.
