Maara Movie Review
With a sparkling chemistry in Vikram Vedha, Madhavan and Shraddha Srinath were announced of sharing the screen space again in Maara. Well, the announcement was made before a couple of years back. Finally, the film is out on Amazon Prime Video and let us checks out how well the film impresses. We would like to take forward the analysis based on three different criteria.
How unique is the story?
A man or woman in search of their soulmates isn’t something new indeed. However, what connects them is what it matters. In this aspect, director Dhilip and his team of writers have tried attempting a exquisitely elegant fairy tale. It’s quite good and appreciable.
Rating: 3/5
How engaging is the film?
The basic idea behind the film is ‘Search’. With Shraddha Srinath’s character embarking on her journey, the actual success is if audiences join her as well. This should have been the intention of this story. However, the characters played by Alexander Babu, Abhirami or Sshivada don’t create an emotional connect. It’s not that their performance is mediocre. They have done a fabulous job, yet, the writing could have been better. Madhavan’s screen presence, few hilarious dialogues that happens during the second half with Mouli and his friends are enjoyable.
Rating: 2/5
How good the film is technically strong?
The visuals are phenomenal, the art works are extraordinary and Ghibran’s musical score are appreciable. Yaar Azhaipadhu is a delight to watch and art work of those graphic paintings is beautifully captured. Well, dew capped mountains are always a delight to watch through any lens, but still the cinematographers have given their best in presenting them perfectly.
Rating: 3/5
Overall, Maara owns a plot that deserves extolments, but it could have been better if the writers had let the characters draw us emotionally closer to the film. But, still the film is quite unique from the stereotypical tales that we come across often.
