Lubber Pandhu Movie Review

Director Tamizharasan Pachamuthu’s latest outing ‘Lubber Pandhu’, is a feel-good entertainer, featuring Attakathi Dinesh and Harish Kalyan in the lead roles. The film has an ensemble star cast including Swasika Vijay, Devadarshini, Sanjana, Geetha Kailasam, Bala Saravanan, and many others. Sean Roldan is composing music and Dinesh Purshothaman is handling cinematography.

The story is set in two different ages: We see Gethu (Attakathi Dinesh), as an aspiring Gully Cricketer in the local neighborhood. And years, later his passion continues to strive him. He is now married and has a daughter. A young boy named Anbu (Harish Kalyan), who grew up watching Gethu’s cricketing skills, has now become the finest cricketer in his region. When both these individuals cross paths on the cricketing levels, they develop a strong egoistic clash. Things get more hilarious and emotional when Anbu and Gethu’s daughter fall in love.

The film starts on a good impressive note with enjoyable and riveting moments. But sooner, when the film starts leaning towards the routine communal clashes, we are a little taken aback assuming that it’s going to be yet another run-of-the-mill plot. However, the story takes a diversion into a much more engrossing stage, where the second half too offers us lively moments.

As with performance, it’s Attakathi Dinesh has delivered an impeccable performance in two different avatars a young boy and a middle-aged man. He is so naturalistic in all the scenes. Harish Kalyan always gives his best, when offered content-driven roles, and he strikes it decorously with this character of Anbu. Sanjana is a delight to watch, and she suits the role of a belle in a neighborhood with perfection. Devadarshini, as usual, comes up with a cakewalk performance and steals the spotlights. Bala Saravanan’s character adds liveliness to the film.

Sean Roldan’s musical score and Dinesh’s cinematography elevate the cricketing moments, and even the emotional parts as well.

There are many scenes, where director Pachamuthu has added the humor quotients at the best level. Say, for instance, the meeting of Attakathi Dinesh-Harish Kalyan-Sanjana for the first time followed by a matchmaking ceremony is enjoyable.

Overall, ‘Lubber Pandhu’ is a decent entertainer, which keeps us engrossed from the beginning till the end. These days, family entertainers have become scarce, and this one is something you can sit back, watch, and enjoy along with your family members.
