Kudumbasthan Movie Review
Actor Manikandan’s choice of scripts or in other words, the scripts that are pitched for him always synch well with the realistic touch. His previous films ‘Lover’ and ‘Good Night’ dealt with the life of a middle-class boy, and now ‘Kudumbasthan’ joins the league. The film is directed by Rajeshwar Kalisamy and has Saanve Megghana as the female lead. Guru Somasundaram and Sundarajan are playing pivotal roles in this movie.
The story premise is simple as it revolves around a young couple (Manikandan and Saanve), from different castes getting hitched despite the oppositions from their families. Well, this isn’t the conflict here, but the actual one begins, when the protagonist dives into the habit of borrowing money to lead his life. The perplexities and turbulences in his family and professional space forms the crux of this story.
Manikandan has now become the face of realistic entertainers, which is a rare zone for any actor to explore. He delivers an effortless performance and gains our appreciation. He will be soon clasping a greater stature in the industry with the choice of good scripts like this. Saanve looks perfect for the role, though she appears with a minimal prominence. Guru Somasundaram as Mani’s uncle is more like a appear and disappear character. The director could have given yet more substantiality to his character. After a long time, director Sundarajan gets a meaty role, and he nails it down perfectly.
Kudos to director Rajeshwar for delivering a screenplay with engrossing elements throughout the film. The first half is thoroughly enjoyable, especially the pre-interval moment. The post-intermission sequences get a smooth treatment. A few scenes slightly trace the ‘Good Night’, but not to a greater extent. There is one particular scene in the film, set in a park, where a character keeps talking to himself, and Manikandan’s justification to his friend about him is clap-worthy.
Technically, the film is okay, as its narrative takes our attention.
Films that convey beautiful messages without preaching too much and entertain audiences are always a theatrical bliss. Kudumbasthan
Overall, ‘Kudumbasthan’ is an entertaining family film suitable for watching with family and friends.
