Idiot Movie Review
It looks like filmmaker Rambhala is smug-bitten by success of his erstwhile directorial outings from ‘Dhillukku Dhuddu’ franchise. The visual promos of his latest release ‘Idiot’ clearly indicated that he has a similar story premise with a bunch of actors, who can evoke laughter effortlessly. Mirchi Shiva has already proved his proficiency in such tailor-made roles indeed.
So, what’s the story all about?
It’s no different from Dhillukku Dhuddu 2, where the story revolves around a beautiful doctor Smitha (Nikki Galrani), at mental hospital who is troubled by the witch woman Neelakandi (Akshara Gowda) to reunite with her lost love beyond centuries. Apparently, Chinrasu (Mirchi Shiva), who gets mentally sick after visiting a haunted palace is admitted there and falls in love with Smitha. Sooner, he gets into this web of mysterious paranormal encounters that turn out to be a passably hilarious ride for audiences.
As the title ‘Idiot’ suggests, the entire movie is about the world of Idiots including the witch lady, and even the ghosts. Yes, once you’re settled with this premise, then there’s no need to tickle your brains for rational purpose, but just sit back and try to convince yourself to laugh like few groups do it ritually during morning hours in the park. Rambala scores brownie points only during the second half, especially in last 30 minutes to climax in all his movies. Similarly, if you’re his fan, then you’ll have to wait for the same here. However, even those moments don’t evoke humor anywhere. His idea to bring all the characters locked inside a haunted house fails terribly in Idiot.
Mirchi Shiva’s one-liner comedy is a treat for his fans. Nikki Galrani has nothing to perform. The romantic quotients between the lead pair are completely missing, and hence, we don’t feel connected to the movie. Anand Raj, and Urvashi give their best into the show. The other actors like Ravi Mariah, Mayilsamy and Redin are just okay.
On the whole, Idiot is just an average fare that sparks off humour with Rambala’s regular one-liners and Mirchi Shiva’s dialogues. Or else, it’s a replica of director’s previous outings like Dhillukku Dhuddu and Dhillukku Dhuddu 2.
