Here we are yet again for I Movie Songs Review. I (a) Ai is a romantic action thriller film written and directed by Shankar. The film features Vikram and Amy Jackson in the lead role. Music is composed by A.R.Rahman.
1. Merasalaayitten
Singers: Anirudh Rachichander, Neeti Mohan
Lyrics: Kabilan
A song completely in North Chennai Tamil language from Kabilan. Also the lyrics mostly coming as rhyming words which is catchy.. “Naan vannarapettai, nee vennila muttai”, “vaana villu nee, pilli munnu naan” “Oru maattukombu mela, pattampoochi pola” etc.. Initial piano and guitar at the middle ringing round the ears. Anirudh voice matured enough for this folk-western combo.
2. Ennodu Nee Irundhaal
Singers: Sid Sriram, Sunitha Sarathy
Lyrics: Kabilan
After the dip in initial voice, music which come out, outstanding to hear and the lyrics “Ennodu nee irundhaal, uyirodu naanirupen” repeats for 6 times yet nice to hear with different rhythms. Lyrics are so poetic and simple to understand with the music not overwhelm lyrics. Only the sid Tamil pronunciation seems weak and this song should have been sung by A.R.Rahman itself.
3. Ladio
Singers: Nikita Gandhi
Lyrics: Karky
A fast beat song with international touch. Rhythm will change frequently and the Ladio tune will make you sing along. After 2 mins you will hear some Tamil words. Drum beat and electric sounds are very nice. A kind of song which will get a place in the parties & western dance floors.
4.Pookkalae Sattru Oyivedungal
Singers: Haricharan, Shreya Ghoshal
Lyrics: Madhan Karky
A lovable duet song which justifies the title of the movie. lyrics which revolves around the word “I” from karky impresses well. Definitely, one of the thumps up song of the album with Hari & Shereya’s mesmarising voice and A.R.Rahman’s magic touch.
5.Aila Aila
Singers: Aditya Rao, Natalie Di Luccio
Lyrics: Madhan Karky
Another rhythmic piano opening from the album with fast tunes. You cant guess the type of the song in the first attempt and on repeat you will come to know the A.R.Rahman try out something new with vocals, carnatic touches, piano.
6. Ennodu Nee Irundhaal (Reprise)
Singers: Chinmayi, Sid Sriram
Lyrics: Kabilan
By following the same rhythm from original, replacing the drums beat by the chords. Mesmerizing soulful singing of the Chinmayi definitely takes your heart. Teaser humming at the background adds value to the soulfulness. You cant say which one good either the original or reprise and each having their own style. Mix of the two voice towards ending just awesome to hear.
7. Mersalaayitten (Remix)
Singers: Anirudh Ravichander, Neeti Mohan
Lyrics: Kabilan
You can feel the difference in the sounds from the two versions and the latter sounds soft while the original is little sharp and electric. Reducing the length and fasten the beats further make it crisp.
Final Verdict : Unlike usual A.R.Rahman album which you will feel the magic only on repeat mode, here you will get it at first time itself for most songs.
Song of the Album : Definitly cant choose a single. Pookkale, Ennodu Nee irundhaal(two versions), Mersalaayitten, Ladio thumbs up
