Game Changer Movie Review
The movie “Game Changer,” helmed by director Shankar and starring Ram Charan, Kiara Advani, S. J. Surya, Anjali, and Srikanth, has officially premiered today. This political action drama delves into the issue of corruption within Indian politics.
The term of Chief Minister Satyamurthy (Srikanth) is nearing its end. Following this, Mobidevi (SJ Suryah) aspires to take over the position. In this context, Ram Nandan (Ram Charan), who has recently assumed the role of Collector, is actively working to prevent the corrupt Mobidevi from becoming the Chief Minister. The narrative revolves around the strategies Ram Nandan employs to thwart Mobidevi’s success. Additionally, it raises questions about the struggles faced by Appanna and Parvathi, whether Appanna’s expectations were met, and if the elections unfolded as Ram Nandan anticipated.
Ram Charan has undeniably left a remarkable impression in his role as Ram Nandan. This character, a former IPS officer who resolutely retakes the examination to ascend to the esteemed position of IAS officer while battling corruption, is depicted with exceptional elegance. The character of Appanna also enchants the audience in a profound manner. Kiara Advani takes on the character of Deepika, who is in a relationship with Ram Nandan. However, the romantic plot involving Ram and Deepika has not attracted significant attention. In contrast, Anjali, who plays Parvathi, has managed to captivate the audience effectively. Anjali’s role is portrayed as more impactful than that of Kiara. Srikanth delivers a strong performance as the villain, Popili Satyamurthy, successfully conveying a sense of threat. Furthermore, S.J. Surya impresses with his portrayal of Mobidevi.
The first half of the film presents Ram Nandan as a college student with aspirations of joining the IPS. While this segment may lack humor, the twist at the midpoint is notably engaging. The second half of the film builds upon this with increased excitement.
The music for the film by Thaman is quite impressive. The song “Jaragandi” is captivating for everyone. Thiru’s cinematography is exceptional.
Now getting on with the flip side, the film reminiscences of Shankar’s yesteryear blockbuster movies. He has created a deep impact among cinephiles with remarkable array of movies that endorsed socio-commercial genre. And again, to see a movie of that paradigm from the same filmmaker leaves us bored in many places.
Overall, ‘Game Changer’ has some interesting moments, but they are in dearth. It is an average piece of work from a filmmaker, who has created country’s best works.
