FIR Movie Review
Actor Vishnu Vishal has been so much focussed in picking the best content-driven scripts that has distinctly supported in escalating his career graph. After a long hiatus, we do have a release from this actor titled ‘FIR’ that is hitting screens this Friday. The movie, as the visual promos have already indicated is about the concept of terrorism, and how innocents are suspected with the least reason with new factors. So is the protagonist in this movie Irfan (Vishnu Vishal), a proficient chemical engineer from ITT Madras, who is leading a picture-perfect life with his dotting mother, a constable. When everything seems to be going to picture-perfect, he is handcuffed by the National Intelligence Agency headed by Gautham Vasudev Menon. The reason – He is none other than most-dreaded terrorist Abu Bakkar Abdullah, who will soon execute serial bombings in Chennai and Colombo.
The salient feature about the movie is the raciness that director Manu Anand has incorporated. The first half swifts with such an amazing narration, where we can experience the raciness, and in contrast, the second hour seems to be pushed with so-called racy moments. Well, this must have been the scenario. The director has got a fabulous first hour, and maybe, the producers would have felt that the second hour seems to be having momentum dropping. Besides, the mother-son sentiments too pop up during this hour, which slightly hampers the narrative progress… However, by the end of show, we don’t feel these little drawbacks ruining the show…
The stellar performances of the actors are the biggest plus. Manu Anand has taken scrutinized efforts in crafting each and every character. Be it Vishnu Vishal, or the female lead characters played by Manjima Mohan, Raiza Wilson and Reba Monica John, they deliver a top-notch performance. Although Gautham Vasudev Menon’s character has a minima importance, his screen presence adds more value to the movie. The background score and cinematography are yet another emblazonments in keeping the raciness intact.
Coincidently, we do feel the traces of few web series and movies from the recent years. Well, comparisons are quite unavoidable, but FIR as an overall movie, doesn’t disappoint us.
