Fight Club Movie Review
‘Fight Club’ is a familiar word for the hardcore Hollywood movie buffs as it became the renaissance of world cinema decades ago. Now being an avid lover of this film, Lokesh Kanagaraj could have probably named this film the same or perhaps, director’s desire or dedication. Well, the film features ‘Uriyadi’ fame Vijaykumar in the lead role and Monisha as the female lead character.
The story revolves around an ordinary guy, who aspires to become a football player and is influenced by his coach Benjamin. However, the coach gets killed by a group of miscreants, and the hero unexpectedly happens to bounce upon them, thereby leading to a series of violent combats.
Fight Club as the title suggests owns a plethora of action blocks, and it will definitely be a tremendous treat for the action film lovers. Well, for a film to achieve a top-notch action sequence, it’s not just the stunt crew, but it needs the support of the entire technical team. In this aspect, the whole crew has struck the right chords. Be it cinematography, crisp editing or even the sound design along with the background score, everything is too brilliant. To be precise, the action chasing sequence in the nighttime, and the one that happens in the bus is excellent. In many places, both the making of the film, and the action blocks reminiscences of Vijay Kumar’s Uriyadi.
Editor Kripakaran deserves special mention as he carries major portions of the film on his shoulder. The editing is so crisp, and the way, the scenes are presented is brilliant. The sequences where he connects the flashback and the current scenes together with a creative approach need applause.
Everyone in the star cast has delivered commendable work. Not to miss the performances of Vijay Kumar, Shankar Das, and Avinash, who have delivered a strong spell of acting. Of course, the other actors too have done justice to their respective roles. Still, it would have been better if director Abbas had furthermore crafted a good sketch for a few characters including the female lead and Joseph’s character.
Overall, Fight Club is a treat for action film lovers, and there are lots of violent elements.
