Dikkiloona Movie Review
Actor Santhanam’s filmography have comprised of either blockbuster hits or just a mediocre ones. With his previous hits sticking to just a couple of numbers like Dhillukku Dhuddu 2 and A1, the expectations over his next outing ‘Dikkiloona’ garnered some spotlights. The movie directed by Karthik Yogi and produced by KJR Studios Kotapadi J Rajesh in association with Sinish is premiering on Zee5 from September 10, 2021.
As the visual promos have already clearly indicated what the film is all about, we get a clear idea of what to expect and what not to. This turns to be a highlighting trait of this entertainer.
The year is 2027 and we see Mani (Santhanam), an electrician with a miserable married life with the girl he loved the most – Priya (Anagha). When he lands up at a mental asylum to fix an electrical issue, he finds that a bunch of ludicrous scientists are working on a Time Machine experiment. Using this as a tool to change his past so that his present life gets better, Mani travels back in time. Nonetheless, things get complicated and worst with the changes he made, which urges him to travel back again and change things for better. But the biggest problem is that it’s not going to be that easy.
Santhanam as usual tries to evoke laughter with his one-liners, but they do make us laugh only in few portions. On the other hand, the other actors don’t have more importance. However, with the minimum importance, they add the best to the humour quotients. The entire first half lacks the entertainment factor, except for few witty-liners that evoke fun. However, the screenwriting gets entertaining after interval. In particular, the last 30 minutes involving the episodes of Santhanam and other comedians like Yogi Babu, Naan Kadavul Rajendran and his ‘Lollu Sabha’ team easily wipes out the minuses. Anagha delivers a decent performance and Shirin does what is required for the role. Although Yuvan Shankar Raja’s name is found in the Music, there’s nothing special from him.
On the whole, with most of the recent releases in both theaters and OTT platforms inclined to serious crime thrillers and intense dramas, Dikkilona streaming on Zee5 will be a stress buster.
