DaDa Movie Review

Actor Kavin’s previous release ‘Lift’ had a direct OTT premiere, and still garnered good response that elevated his career graph. He is back with ‘Dada’ now, which is directed by Ganesh K Babu, featuring Aparna Das (Beast fame) in the female lead role. The film also features prominent actors like K Bhagyaraj, Aishwarya, VTV Ganesh, Pradeep and many others.

When the final year graduates Manikandan (Kavin) and Sindhu (Aparna Das) in relationship make a wrong move, it changes their lives forever. Sindhu gets pregnant and doesn’t want to abort the child. With both the families forsaking them, they decide to stay together at their friend’s house. However, even before the birth of child, the couple get separated, and situations get adverse for Mani as he has to raise the child. With financial crisis and lots of pressures, how he deals with the life forms crux of this story.

Tamil cinema has seen a rare breed of actors, who can easily take a clean sweep playing chocolate boy roles. But still, their ambitious drive to attempt different roles and unique scripts, turn them into the unparalleled performers. Kavin owns such potentials. He showcases two different shades in this movie, which instantly steals our attention. His devil-may-care attitude during the initial moments, and a complete transformation into a responsible and emotional father are appreciable. Aparna Das showcases a matured performance, and she has the potential to rule the screens when given a proper role. The other actors have done justice to their roles. Special mention to director Ganesh K Babu for crafting good characterizations, which in turn, has helped the actors perform a decent spell.

Cinematography is groovy, and the BGM works out well in many places.

On the whole, Dada is a movie that touches the pinnacle of emotions in many places. It offers a decent cinematic experience for the universal crowds.
