Chithirai Sevvaanam Movie Review
The story revolves around a father (Samuthirakani), who after losing his wife takes care of his daughter (Pooja) as cynosure of his eyes. As she prepares for NEET exams away from her home, some miscreants record her bathing video. Aftermath this shock, she goes missing. Group of cops lead by officer (Riima Kallingal) go in search of her. On the other hand, her father is on the pursuit of her. What actually happened to her? What happens to the criminals, who were responsible for this act? It is narrated with some suspense and thrill elements.
After many years of deprivation, it’s now the girls and women are able to come out and educate themselves, explore their potentials. But still, there are few places, where the arrogant men who keep torment them emotionally, mentally and physically. Even today, college girls are insisted on physical compromises, Pollachi issues are right in front of our years. Although such crimes keep increasing, the criminals remain unpunished. Director Vijay’s story and Stunt Silva’s directorial Chithirai Sevvaanam deals with this issue in an intense manner… First and foremost, director Silva deserves special mention for making an unusual film that is far away from his avatar as stunt master. Usually, these technicians are much inclined to action packed movies, but then, he chosen an emotional plot, which is a noteworthy fact. While the premise is really intense and extraordinary, the screenwriting could have been little better from what it is now.
Samuthirakani’s performance is appreciable. Although Pooja appears in minimal portions, she has done a good job. Riima Kallingal exhibits a neat spell. While the basic plot is realistic and emotional, the treatment is done in a regular commercial cinema pattern, which could have been avoided. The logical issues are yet another drawback.
However, the team deserves special mention for making a film that holds realistic and emotional values. Samuthirakani’s performance and Stunt Silva’s directorial part is appreciable.
