Brother Review

Jayam Ravi’s ‘Brother’ sparked off the expectations with the song ‘Makkamishi’, but lets check out how far the film is engaging and enjoyable. The film is directed by Rajesh, who earlier delivered some of the Tamil industry’s blockbuster entertainers like OKOK, Boss Engira Baskaran and Siva Manasula Sakthi.

The story revolves around Karthik (Jayam Ravi), whose anger against the unjust remains as a barricade to happiness for his family. His father (Achyuth) wants to stay away from him, and his elder sister (Bhumika) takes him to her in-laws family to ensure that he mends his ways, but nothing seems to go perfect. Eventually, his arrival results in upheavals within the family, and will be able to win their hearts back forms the crux of this story.

This film evidently shows that Santhanam has been the hero in all the aforementioned movies of Rajesh. The director has never managed to deliver a hit without the presence of Santhanam in his movies. Jayam Ravi looks dull throughout the film, and this is not a tailor-made role for him. Priyanka Arul Mohan plays a cliched character that often resembles BEB Nayanthara. Lack of comedians and humour in the film turns out to be the biggest minus for the film. Rao Ramesh is the showstopper in this movie. Saranya Ponvannan’s character is irritating. VTV Ganesh looks so cringe.

Harris Jayaraj’s BGM gives an impression of watching a TV serial.

The film’s doesn’t entertain you in any place, and the story is so weak and feeble that it lets you turn restless by the first half itself.

On the whole, Brother is totally disappointing, and it might click with the OTT release.

Verdict: Poor screenwriting and lazy presentation leaves us disappointed throughout the show.
