Bottle Radha Movie Review
It looks like Guru Somasundaram has got a best phase in Tamil cinema as couple of his movies ‘Kudumbasthan’ and ‘Bottle Radha’ have been released on the same date. Significantly, the actor plays the lead role in this movie with Sanchana Natarajan as the female lead. Time and again, there have been movies that preaches about the evil of alcoholism, and now, Bottle Radha becomes the latest one to join the league.
The film revolves around an alcoholic (Guru Somasundaram), whose family life involving his wife (Sanchana Natarajan) and two kids is totally ruined due to his bad habit. It reaches a point of devastation in his family, where they can’t afford to handle him and he eventually lands up in a rehabilitation centre.
The film is directed by Dinakaran Sivalingam, and this marks his directorial debut. He has written a plot that would have very well looked perfect as a short film or a tele-film, but it fails eventually as a full-length feature movie.
Yes, the movie starts off well, with first half being a pretty okay one though the premise is dry. However, as the story proceeds into second half, it suffers a lot and lets the audience go through the same with its cliched moments, repeated scenes and too many preachy scenes.
Guru Somasundaram has very well engraved an astounding performance. Sanchana Natarajan and Pari Elavazhagan have given a neat spell. On the flip side, the screenplay is too weak, and it turns out to be a documentary style in the latter part.
Overall, Bottle Radha has emotional points, but in scarcity. After investing some time into the movie, audiences will start doubting if they are watching a feature film or a documentary drama.
