Aranmanai 4 Movie Review
Aranmanai and Kalakalappu franchises have been retaining the status of Sundar C in the league of dominant filmmakers of Tamil cinema. The director, who has skipped making standalone commercial entertainers, in the past few years, has ritually inclined to these franchises, which have been delivering him success. Undoubtedly, the Aranmanai franchise has turned out to be a profitable venture for the trade circles.
The director, without any hesitation, followed the same template in all three installments including the grand palatial mansion, glamorous girls grooving to oomph up the experience, the ghost activities borrowed from James Wan flicks, and humorously adapted to evoke laughter along with the spine-shuddery thrills. Yes, it might not have been a cup of coffee for the pure cinema lovers, but still flocked limitless crowds to the theaters. Sundar C’s clarity is his winning point, and he needs special mention for sticking to it without fail.
When Saravanan (Sundar C) is informed about the shocking demise of his younger sister Selvi (Tamannaah Bhatia) and her husband (Santhosh Prathap), with their couple of children surviving in the palace-like house inside a forest, he arrives along with his aunt (Kovai Sarala) to solve the mystery. The house he is residing in is possessed and he embarks on the journey of solving the mystery, more mysterious deaths occur, and he finally gets to know an appalling mystery from a Godman.
What’s the actual mystery lying beneath this house? If it is haunted by a ghost, what’s the story behind it? Sundar C attempts to narrate the story in his style laced with commercial ingredients.
As above mentioned, the film has a huge star-cast with at least half dozen comedians ranging from Kovai Sarala, Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh, and many others, who offer laughter moments. Yes again, it’s for the commercial cinema lovers. Tamannaah Bhatia delivers a neat performance, and Raashi Khanna is included for the glam-up elements. It’s the special appearance of Simran and Khushboo that adds momentum to the film.
Technically, Sundar C tries to elevate the fourth instalment in terms of CG and other departments. Yes, he does manage to come up with some decent work that enthralls the kids. If you’re really stressed out and need an entertainer, just choose this one, but with one condition – Not questioning too much about loopholes and logic.
