Amaran Review

Director Rajkumar Periyasamy’s ‘Amaran’ features Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles, which is a biopic based on the life of Major Mukund Varadharajan and his wife Indhu. The story chronicles through the love, life and sacrifice of the emblematic inspiration of India.

So there’s nothing new that audience have got to know about this film’s story, as it is all about the heroic immortal Major Mukund Varadarajan. When it comes to analysis, the earnest attempt of producers Kamal Haasan and Sony Pictures needs special mention.

Secondly, director Rajkumar Periasamy’s making style is so extraordinary. The initial moments of the first half might take some time for us to settle down, but significantly, the interval moments offer a Goosebump. Eventually, the episodes between SK and Sai Pallavi are cute, but at times, make us feel that the momentum is getting disturbed. However, the final moments give us an eye-moistening experience.

Sivakarthikeyan’s mannerism and body language are totally nice. His beefed up physique adds more intensity to his character. But a small suggestion could be his dialogues delivery, which slightly needs an improvement. This isn’t a criticism, but in few places, his dialogue delivery style reminds of his Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam. However, it’s not a big minus, but it would be nice if he can improvise in his forthcoming movies.. Sai Pallavi is so natural and perfect for the role. The perfect casting and realistic performance of actors make the film more engrossing.

GV Prakash stands out as a silent hero in this epic, and his background score in both action and emotional scenes are so appealing.

Cinematography and editing are yet another highlights of the film. The jovial scene before ambush on the road, where the characters discuss about their favourite movies are excellently shot.

Overall, Amaran is a perfect ode and token of respect to Major Mukundan, and this film deserves a watch.

Verdict: A heart-warming presentation of a real-life hero that deserves a watch
