2K Love Story Movie Review

Director Susienthiran, the creator of several commendable movies like Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu, Pandiya Naadu and Paayum Puli has come up with his latest outing ‘2K Love Story’.

Karthik (Jagaveer) and Monica (Meenakshi) have maintained a close friendship since their early years. Their bond has persisted through school, college, and into their professional lives, leading those around them to assume they are romantically involved. Despite this perception, they have consistently remained friends. However, Karthik eventually develops feelings for a girl named Pavithra. While he harbors affection for Pavithra, she disapproves of his ongoing friendship with Monica. Pavithra advises Karthik to end his friendship with Monica. However, Karthik firmly refuses to sacrifice his bond with Monica for anyone and chooses to part ways with Pavithra instead. Upon learning of this, Monica attempts to reconcile Karthik and Pavithra, but tragically, Pavithra loses her life in an accident. In the aftermath, Monica supports Karthik as he grapples with the loss of his dear friend. Subsequently, plans for Karthik and Monica’s marriage are initiated. What transpires next? Do they proceed with their marriage, or do they choose to remain friends indefinitely? What happens next has some interesting moments with surprises.

Director Suseenthiran has crafted an exquisite film that resonates with the youth of today. While there are certain shortcomings present throughout the film, he has successfully portrayed a captivating journey. In a society that often equates familiarity between a man and a woman with love, he illustrates that a man and a woman can maintain a platonic friendship until the very end.

The film stands out to be appreciable in places, especially for bringing out a sheer friendship based concept.

As with performances, everyone has done their job decently, but still, they could have delivered yet more promising performance.

The comedic sequences were quite commendable. The performances of Bala Saravanan and Singampuli were particularly delightful. I must emphasise that Singampuli’s portrayal in the latter half was notably remarkable. However, D. Imman’s musical compositions and background score could have been enhanced. The cinematography and editing were satisfactory.

On the whole, a slew of hilarious scenes and the concept of showing the best friendship between a boy and girl deserves special mention. If the screenplay was crafted little more interesting, it would have been much more delightful entertainer.
