S. U. Arun Kumar is an Indian film director and screenwriter who works in the Tamil film industry. He was born on 26 February 1987 in Paravai, near Madurai, Tamil Nadu. He studied Electronics and Communication Engineering at Madras Institute of Technology and worked in a telecommunications company before pursuing his passion for filmmaking. He participated in the second season of Nalaya Iyakunar, a TV competition for short films, and was the runner-up.

He made his feature film debut with Pannaiyarum Padminiyum (2014), a critically acclaimed film that won six Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and was screened at several international film festivals. He then directed Sethupathi (2016) and Sindhubaadh (2019), both starring Vijay Sethupathi, who became his frequent collaborator and close friend. He also made a documentary called Imaikka Vizhigal (2020) about the chain snatching epidemic in Tenkasi. He is married to costume designer Deepika since 2016.
