S. Thaman is one of the most popular and successful music composers in the Indian film industry. He has composed music for more than 100 films in Telugu, Tamil and Kannada languages, and has also sung many songs as a playback singer. He is known for his catchy tunes, energetic beats and versatile styles.
S. Thaman was born as Ghantasala Sai Srinivas on 16 November 1983 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He belongs to a family of musicians, and his grandfather was a renowned director and producer, Ghantasala Balaramayya. He started his musical journey at a very young age, playing rhythm pads and drums for various music directors. He worked as an assistant to Mani Sharma for eight years, before making his debut as a composer with the Telugu film Malli Malli in 2009.
Since then, he has delivered many chartbusters and blockbuster albums for some of the biggest stars and directors in the industry. Some of his notable films include Kick, Dookudu, Businessman, Race Gurram, Sarrainodu, Ala Vaikunthapuramulo, Vakeel Saab and Akhanda. He has won several awards and accolades for his work, including the National Film Award for Best Music Direction for Ala Vaikunthapuramulo and the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director – Telugu for Dookudu.
S. Thaman is not only a talented composer, but also a passionate drummer and cricketer. He often performs live shows with his band Thakkali across India and abroad.
