Dhanush’s Maari, though thrashed by critics and movie goers, has been declared a hit at the box office. Now the hottest buzz is that Vetrimaran is impressed by the pigeon-racing subplot in Maari and is contemplating directing a film based on it.

The pigeon racing community in Chennai has already submitted their request to the national award winning director to make a film on the subject.

“It’s easy to make a film on a familiar subject like cricket. But it’s difficult to sketch a story based on something which is not so popular as rooster fighting or pigeon racing,” says Vetrimaaran.
