Theatre owners want not just ‘Bigil, but more for Diwali
Times have changed, where theatre owners would be much happy after getting a big ticket for screening, especially on a festival day. Naturally, it’s a season, where the houseful shows are happening followed by good sales at food counter and even parking lots. However, this has been something that prevailed in the recent times, for 90s had witnessed nearly 4-5 and even more big releases for festival days. Now the trend was back in action with this Pongal, where Rajinikanth’s Petta and Ajith Kumar’s Viswasam released on same date turned to be a profitable venture for everyone. Now with lots of releases adding up for Diwali after Vijay’s Bigil, theatre owners do feel the same, especially after Karthi’s Kaidhi and Vijay Sethupathi’s Sanga Tamizhan are being included for the Diwali league.
In this aspect, Ram Muthuram Cinemas has tweeted saying, “Practically after Pongal Clash, we need two or three movies for festival for a long run. If a Big Movie came as Solo release, it will be occupying more screens & large no of shows and the occupancy will be dropped in 2 or 3 weeks. But we clearly seen in Pongal, When two movies are getting released all theatres will get new movies also Audience can enjoy different movies on a festival. More than that Good Content will be occupied with 80% even after the 3rd week. We prefer a competitive release than a Solo Release.”
