The launch of ‘Vijay 59’ ,directed by Atlee was held in a grand manner on the 26th of June,2015. The shooting is expected to begin from July 1st. Samantha has been roped in to play the lead along with Amy Jackson. Samantha would be playing a college girl in this film. The film has a strong supporting cast that includes Prabhu and Radhika. Prabhu is also acting in Vijay starrer ‘Puli’ and this will be the straight second film for the veteran actor with Vijay.

Actress Meena’s daughter is making her silver screen debut as a child artist in this film and reportedly plays the daughter of Vijay in the film. This is the 50th film for which G.V.Prakash Kumar is composing music. Atlee said that the young composer has already given the tunes for all the songs in the film. Vijay 59 will be bankrolled by Kalaipuli S Thanu, who is the latest elected President of Producers Council. Rumors have it that the film is going to be titled ‘Moondru Mugam’ which is the title of the super hit film of Rajinikanth in which the Superstar played three different roles. It is said that Vijay appears in three get ups in the film and the title would be very apt.
