Leo North America & Europe rights sold for a record price
Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is creating a lot of buzz among the fans and the trade circles. The film, which is touted to be a gangster action thriller, has an ensemble cast that includes Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Priya Anand, Mysskin, Gautham Vasudev Menon and Mansoor Ali Khan. The film is produced by S. S. Lalit Kumar under Seven Screen Studio and co-produced by Jagadish Palanisamy.
The film is scheduled to release on October 19, 2023, coinciding with Diwali festival. The makers have already announced that the film will have a simultaneous release in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada languages.

According to reliable sources, the film has sold its North America theatrical rights for a whopping Rs 18 crore to a leading distributor. This is the highest price ever paid for a Tamil film in North America market. The previous record was held by Rajinikanth’s 2.0, which was sold for Rs 15 crore.
Similarly, the film has also sold its UK and Europe theatrical rights for a massive Rs 14 crore to another distributor. This is also the highest price ever paid for a Tamil film in UK and Europe market. The previous record was held by Vijay’s own Master, which was sold for Rs 12 crore.
With these deals, the film has earned over Rs 32 crore from its overseas theatrical rights alone. This is a huge achievement for a Tamil film and shows the star power of Vijay and the expectations on Lokesh Kanagaraj’s direction. The film has also reportedly sold its satellite rights for Rs 40 crore to Sun TV and its music rights for Rs 10 crore to Sony Music.
