Karan Johar to remake Pariyerum Perumal in Hindi
Karan Johar, who is known for his successful remakes of films from various languages, has now set his eyes on a Tamil film that won critical acclaim and awards. The film is Pariyerum Perumal, a hard-hitting drama about caste discrimination and oppression, directed by Mari Selvaraj and produced by Pa. Ranjith. The film starred Kathir and Anandhi as law students from different castes who face violence and humiliation from the upper caste men.
Karan Johar has bought the remake rights of this film, which is his first Tamil remake. Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tripti Dimri is in talks to play the lead role in the movie. Movie will reportedly go on floors in the second half of 2023.
He has also acquired the rights of another South Indian film, Driving License, a Malayalam comedy-drama starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Suraj Venjaramoodu. He plans to make this film with Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi in the lead roles, according to a source.
