Films on friendship have always been the toast of the film industry. Subsequent to the mother’s sentiment and romance, friend ship was always a popular ship to travel upon and the way it travels is differ from the earlier. This proven theory guarantees minimum attention.
In the days of single child theory ‘Friendship’ determines the character of the child and later as an adult too. Possessiveness plays a major part in every relationship, and the role it plays in a friend ship is the fulcrum of ‘Kappal’. Vaibhav suited my character very well and I decided to cast him after watching him in ‘Mankatha’ in this script even before I could mantle the responsibility of direction. His maturity in handling the role of a friend in all his earlier films strengthened my view. Sonam Preeth bajwa plays his pair and she is an absolute delight to work with.
‘Kappal’ is a light hearted humour based film. VTV Ganesh, Karunakaran, Arjunan Nandhakumar and Robo Shankar play the supporting cast to the best. Dinesh Krishnan who had done the films Soodhu kavvum and Thegidi is the camera man of the film. Natarajan Sankaran of ‘Moodar koodam’ fame is the music director. Art director is Arusamy of ‘Kalyana samayal sadham’ Editing is by Anthony, Lyrics by Karky and Kabilan and the choreography by Dinesh.
The amalgamation of this creamy layer of talents assures a promising film in making. The theme of the film ‘Friend ship’ was all over the film’s progress and I am confident that the good will this theme generates will reflect on the success of the film too. I had graduated from the school of Director Shankar and I know the responsibility on my shoulders and I realise I had to live up to the expectations of my producers Senthil, Arul raj and Sudan of ‘I Studios’, theatre audience and cinema lovers, says young director Karthik G Krish.
