Dhanush and Anirudh turn showstoppers at Edison Awards

It was a courteous gesture of Dhanush that turned the beautiful crowds into inevitable vivifications as they saw their matinee-idol walk into the Lady Andal Auditorium to clasp the ‘Best Actor Award’ for his 25th film ‘Velai Illa Pattadhaari’ at 8th Annual Edison Awards, held in grandeur last evening in Chennai. The actor appeared in simple attires of traditional shirt and dhoti, which has become his latest fashion statement and his close paisano Anirudh pepped up the brios of his fans as they arrived.

“It’s a very special day for me for three reasons. India has won its world cup league match opposite Pakistan, my Friday release Anegan is faring well with positive response and you’ve now felicitated me with ‘Best Actor Award’. Velai Illa Pattadhaari happened to me at a very critical juncture in my career and helped me bounce back at the best level. I am thankful to director Velraj and music director Anirudh for making this project hit the bull’s eyes,” said Dhanush, who amused his fans crooning ‘Udhungada Sangu’ along with Anirudh.

Catherine Tresa won the ‘Best Female Debut Actor’ award for her scintillating performance in Madras and Attakathi Ranjith as ‘Best Director’ for the same. Velraj was acclaimed with ‘Best Debut Director Award’ for VIP and Anirudh for his astounding musical spell in ‘Kaththi’ as Best Music Director.
