“U-TURN has raciness, mystery and a strong issue”, says Samantha
There are few films that break the linguistic barriers and make a breakthrough for its unparalleled themes. Much more than being ennobled for its thematic ingredients, what turn to be more intriguing is the personal reflections that occur. Filmmaker Pawan Kumar has been the creator of such phenomenal identity for his versatility. With his ambitious film ‘Lucia’ turning the spotlights from nook and corners of the Tinsel Town, his next film ‘U-Turn’ marking the debut of Shraddha Srinath in lead role brought forth more attraction to Sandalwood. Now, the filmmaker’s embarkation of directorial venture in Tamil and Telugu industry through ‘U-Turn’ has got its red-carpets readily spread out.
“All praises to Samantha for her intense involvement into the project from the beginning. She was so much attached to the film even before the original version was released and came forward voluntarily to promote it too. A filmmaker’s creation is complete when the appropriate actors get onboard. Especially, when it comes to remake, the responsibility to find apt ones are much more burdensome. But, Samantha made it easier and I felt she would do the best justice to this role. With her fan base across South industry inclined to big numbers, I am elated that my work will gain a huge mileage,” says Pawan Kumar.
Actress Samantha in her own words appreciates Pawan Kumar saying, “It was not that I chose the film, but it chose me. I would say, it’s a blessing to get such opportunities and if missed, it would be lifetime guilt. When I saw his original work, I just couldn’t control but turned irresistible to be a part of it. U-TURN has raciness, mystery and a strong issue interwoven together. Moreover, it’s a film that has something for the audience to reflect. It’s an everyday issue we come across and this basic premise prompted me to go for it. It’s quite a commonality, where a filmmaker’s success with original version might not be the same with remakes. This is because of regional adaptation, which becomes a huge challenge. But Pawan being conscious about it emphasized more attention to it by the pre-production phase. Even his casting of actors has been tremendous. Every character in the film has its own prominence and will take the story to next level.”
U-Turn scheduled for release on September 13 in both Tamil and Telugu features Aadhi Pinisetty, Naren, Rahul Ravindran, Bhumika Chawla and more prominent actors. The first look poster of U-Turn has created intense inquisitive investigations of what this film could be all about. The top-notch design involving Samantha’s look coalesced with the road, blood splashes and crowd across traffic in the backdrops.
The film is produced by Srinivasaa Chitturi and Rambabu Bandaru for Srinivasaa Silver Screen and BR8 Creations while V.Y. Combines presents the film. Niketh Bommi has handled cinematography for this film, which has musical score by Poorna Chandra Tejaswi and Suresh Arumugam on editing and AS Prakash taking care of Art Department.
