Music and youth go together. James Vasanthan’s Directorial Debut ‘Vaanavil Vaazhkai’ has bunch of young talents who can act, sing and play instruments. Rivalry between college music bands is the fulcrum of the movie. Percussionist Jose Selvaraj playing as a drummer in the movie. The third year B.tech student is excited about his debut film ‘ Vaanavil Vaazhkai’.
“I have been learning and practicing since my school days in Kodaikanal International school. I also learnt playing Indian Instrument Tabla. I completed my Grade 5 in Percussions from Royal College of Music, London. I play as Fayaz, a drummer in the film. James Sir wanted me to do the role of drummer. I was hesitant earlier yet took the chance as a challenge. The character fayaz is very much similar to me so It was easier for me to get along with the character. James Sir taught me to act according to the rhythm of the scenes. Now am very confident to take up acting in future. It was new for me to play for gaana song and couple of folk songs in the film. “ says Jose, the young percussionist.
“The whole team was playful. Playing instruments , Singing and acting was enjoyable. We shared music, joy and friendship. We went for shooting in Ramoji Film City, we were awe struck by the gigantic sets. That was the first time ever am visiting a movie studio. The film ‘Vaanavil Vaazhkai’ was a new experience for me. The film would be a colourful college tour. It was James’s sir long time dream to do a Musical film. I am very glad to be a part of this film. Audience would definitely enjoy new genre of film” adds amused Jose with excitement.
