Actor Singer Model Neil Nitin
An actor, singer, model, photographer and producer known as much for his versatility as he is for his appearance, award winning actor Neil Nitin Mukesh’s most widely recognized role was in Johny Gaddar (2009). But his portrayals in commercial films like New York(2009), Jail(2009), Aa Dekhe Zara (2009), Lafangey Parindey (2010), 7 Khoon Maaf (2011), Players (2012) David (2013), 3G (2013), Shortcut Romeo (2013) and Kaththi(2014), also loom large in his filmography, establishing him as one of the industry’s forerunners in the grey shade portrayal category. Having worked alongside A-list directors like Kabir Khan, AR Murugadoss, Sriram Raghavan, Bejoy Nambiar Sudhir Mishra, Madhur Bhandarkar, Vishal Bharadwak, Abbas Mastan and endowed entertainers like Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, John Abraham, Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone, Bipasha Basu, Priyanka Chopra, Neil sets the ideal exemplar of a self-made luminary.
One of the most coveted bachelors in B-Town, Neil Nitin Mukesh was born Neil Mathur on January 15th, 1982, in Mumbai, India. He was named by Lata Mangeshkar after the American astronaut Neil Armstrong. He is the son of Nitin, a veteran playback singer and Nishi, a housewife. He has a younger brother, Naman who is pursuing film direction and an older sister, Neha who is settled. Being an early learner, Neil pursued his childhood dream by bagging thee child artiste role in Vijay (1988) and Jaise Karni Wiasi Bharni (1989) as the younger versions of Rishi Kapoor and Govinda respectively at a ripe age of 4 years. At Greenlawns High School, Neil was involved in sports, debating, student government and school musicals. Neil attended HR College, where he majored in commerce. To learn the tricks of the trade, he assisted Aditya Chopra for Mujhse Dosti Karoge whilst pursuing his graduation and was an assistant director for 5 years.
Before establishing a successful position in the film industry, Neil supported himself by being a fashion show choreographer and singer and had a regular childhood unlike most of the other celebrity progeny.
With nothing served on a silver platter and refusing to exploit his family goodwill as a stepping stone in Bollywood, a heady mix of a Kayastha-Capricorn, Neil worked assiduously in his preliminary years to make a substantial mark on his own merit. To hone his acting adroitness, Neil took sessions at Kishore Namit Kapoor Academy and Anupam Kher Acting Institute.  With music outlining the family lineage, Neil tried his hands at singing in his films Jail and Aa Dekhe Zara establishing his pedigree as yesteryears singer Mukesh Chand Mathur’s grandson.
Nominated for Filmfare Awards under Best Male Debut(2008) & Best Supporting Actor (2010) category, Neil went on to win Face of The Year at International Indian Film Academy Awards (2008) Critics Special Award at Zee Cine Awards (2008) and Best Actor in a Negative Role  at Apsara Film & Television Producers Guild Awards (2008) for his portrayal in Johny Gaddar. 2008 saw him being nominated for Most Promising Newcomer–Male at Screen Awards and Superstar of Tomorrow–Male at Stardust Awards. While 2012 saw him nominated for Best Supporting Actor at Screen Awards
In his spare time, Neil prefers to master his vocational pursuits like photography, sports and music.
Being a fashion icon, Neil has endorsed creditable brands like Spark, Oxemberg Suitings, Morellato Watches, Volkswagen , Addiction Deo Spray, Gen X, Emami in the past and sashayed down the ramp for Lakme Fashion Week, Bombtech Golf Shop, Wills Fashion Week, Woolmark’s Fashion Show, India Luxury Style Week, Kids Fashion Show, India Bridal Week, Jack & Jones.
I 2009, the benign actor started an NGO to support needy women by providing them with basic amenities for survival. The philanthropic project was named after his grandmother, Saral Devi. In 2012, he joint hands with Volkswagen to support an environmental campaign titled Think Blue to create awareness around pressing ecological issues. He walked the ramp for 9th Caring with Style Fashion Show in association with Cancer Patients Association and Pidilite Industries Ltd.
Neil gained widespread critical acclaim with his visually lavish role in Johny Gaddar and New York.
Following a string of roles in badly received films such as 3G, Jail, Shorcut Romeo, Neil’s career hit an upswing with his unforgettably quirky casting in David which cemented his status as a multi-layered actor as opposed to just a pretty face. Neil’s crossover into the Tamil film industry with his portrayal in the big-budget action drama Kaththi helped establish his appeal as action star. After focusing on the South film industry in 2014, 2015 will witness Neil on the big screens in an avatar he enjoys the most- the grey shade character with Rajshri Production’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo featuring Salman Khan, Sonam Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar- Amitabh Bachchan starrer Wazir. He continues to wildly vary his film choices, appearing in everything from high-concept popcorn flicks to adventurous critic-bait.
