Will Eid 2017 Tamil film releases cut of its releases?
By the very beginning of this year, we had come up with an analysis upon Pongal releases that was initially lined up to be around 7 movies, but later got itself shrinking up to just 2 numbers that includes Vijay’s Bairavaa and Parthiepan’s Koditta Idangalai Nirappuga. Well with just 5 major festival and holiday based dates available to score bigger for the movies.
This includes Eid (June 23), August 10 (Long weekend holiday for Independence Day), Vinayaka Chathurthi (August 25), Dussera (September 29), Diwali (October) followed by Christmas holidays that isn’t mostly preferred by many major players of Tamil cinema.
With Vishal’s advice to Jayam Ravi and team of ‘Vanamagan’ producers, they got the same date fixed up.
As the season begins with festive occasion of Eid on June 23, it was initially STR’s Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan the first one to make an official confirmation of getting the film released. Apparently, with Vishal’s advice to Jayam Ravi and team of ‘Vanamagan’ producers, they got the same date fixed up.
(Well Vishal’s plans to clash up with Ajith Kumar’s Vivegam on August 10 for Thupparivalan and Sivakarthikeyan’s Velaikkaran on September 29 (Irumbu Thirai) had already got our assumed analysis. But it looks like his bunch of friends is following the same pattern, which might be regarded as not a blunt factor, but a mere coincidence too as Jayam Ravi and Vishal share a very much big bonding).
While Selvaraghavan had planned up major release of horror-thriller ‘Nenjam Marapathillai’ on June 2, it was precisely a finer move as considered by the trade analysts… But with the earnest efforts to bring in good opening with three days of holiday (June 23, 24 and 25), Gautham Vasudev Menon and Escape Artists Madan have zeroed in this season.
Not to end the list, it’s Vishnu Vishal-Catherine Tresa starrer ‘Kathanayagan’ directed by Muruganantham. Vishnu Vishal has already proved an ultimate success with the comedy caper Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikaaran, which later got him approved by trade circles for a better opening and is now attempting to repeat it all.
But then with STR’s AAA and Selvaraghavan’s Nenjam Marapathillai already garnering good expectations, it looks like Vanamagan could be standing the chance to compete with these biggies, but it’s still unconfirmed whether Vishnu Vishal would attempt to join the league. In case, if his intentions are such that village and sub-urban audiences would take a chance, then he would definitely go for it.
when the trade circles thought that this is the final list of movies hitting screens for the Eid festival, there seems to be a slight twist in the tale.
Well, when the trade circles thought that this is the final list of movies hitting screens for the Eid festival, there seems to be a slight twist in the tale. Yes, Vijay Sethupathi-Madhavan starrer Vikram Vedha directed by Pushkar-Gayathri duo has been tentatively scheduled up for the release on same occasion. Apparently, this could be triggering off a much celebratory yet gripping race in box office.
