Kolaiyuthir Kaalam Movie Review
When the official announcement about the film was made, it was really an exhilarating one to see that it’s going to be a special one. The major reason being the fact that its an official remake of Hollywood movie HUSH that was released in 2016. With Nayanthara playing the lead role and Billa 2 fame Chakri Toleti getting onboard, it was much more enthralling. However, the film had its relentless controversies, which kept the release delayed over and again. Finally, after much shifts in the release dates across the couple of months, the film hit the screens yesterday.
The film centers on Shruthi (Nayanthara), who happens to be a girl with speech and hearing impairment. She happens to be the only heir to the mind blowing palace like mansion in the alienated lands of Sussex. When she decides to have it all for the good purpose, things get nightmarish a masked serial killer lands up at the house and starts killing everyone.
Even now, if you’re watching the film’s trailer, there would be some commendable elements, which signify that it’s going to be a good movie. However, as the movie show begins, you’re tested with more patience and then literally pushed into the gallows of boredom. Of course, the storyline is so predictable that you would definitely opt to move out of the theatres by the point of interval as well.
When it comes to performance, despite having some talented actors like Prathap Pothan and Bhumika Chawla, everyone seems to be improperly used. They have no scope to showcase their potentials. Especially, with Nayanthara playing the role of a speech and hearing impairment girl, she has no dialogues and in fact, the film itself has scarcity of dialogues. Except for the jarring sound through BGM, there is no sound in the movie. The only convincing part is cinematography and Chakri Toleti is completely disappointing as a filmmaker.
On the whole, Kolaiyuthir Kaalam fails to impress you in any aspect.
