Namma Veettu Pillai Movie Review
Sivakarthikeyan’s Namma Veettu Pillai has got lots of reasons to watch as we had presented it through our 5 reasons to watch the film. Of course, it remains so much prevalent during the first half that has a running length of 90 minutes. During these days, where this is considered as a long stretched duration to keep the audiences engrossed, Pandiraj wins the hour hands down. Bringing up a precise point, from the word ‘Go’, the film has lots of relishing moments, which involves the introduction of family members through the head – Bharathiraja. While each and everyone in the family have their own opinions to forsake Sivakarthikeyan and his family comprising of his widowed mother (Archana) and younger sister (Aishwarya Rajesh), he is still considered as the good man by man in the town.
By the time of intermission, we are commuted to the actual point of conflict, where the real intention of Natty, who marries Aishwarya Rajesh is revealed. However, what remains as a major curiosity among the audiences is what’s the mystery behind the identity of Aishwarya Rajesh as many characters keep degrading her uttering, “Just don’t forget you real identity†We get to see it revealed through the flashback scene, where the demise of Samuthirakani (Sivakarthikeyan’s father) and his close friend (RK Suresh) is shown. However, they don’t make a strong impact on the audiences for the reason remains feeble and turns out to be short-lived. Although, Natty is shown as villainous shade, it doesn’t fall into the stereotypical zone. Say for instance, he is the caretaker of his uncle’s wine shop and still doesn’t drink or smoke. However, there could have been much more in-depth drama between Sivakarthikeyan-RK Suresh by the second hour. Lots of conversations make the post-intermission episodes dragged.
Bringing up each and everyone in the star-cast will turn out to be a long-stretched essay and we’ll just mention the best picks. It’s out and out Sivakarthikeyan for he has breathed more life into the role. But it would be really nice, if he refrains from over-dosage of emotional dialogues. He can deliver it in a much crispier manner for that itself will make a good impact. Aishwarya Rajesh being a mainstream actress choosing to do a sister role is awesome and she nails it down perfectly. Soori’s comedy tracks are at its best and Pandiraj’s humorous spell furthermore elevates the fun elements. Anu Emmanuel is completely disappointing and it’s a big question mark on what actually made her the choice of Pandiraj. We are not blaming her for the actress has already delivered some decent films in the past, but she is not apt for this role. The other actors have done what is required from their roles.
D Imman’s music is appreciable and cinematography by Nirav Shah, especially in songs is enriching.
On the whole, Namma Veettu Pillai starts of well with brighter note and lands upon a middling zone by the latter half due to overdose of dialogues and unconvincing conflict in the drama. But it somehow turns up to be a watchable film for Sivakarthikeyan, Aishwarya Rajesh, Soori and the emotional quotients.
