Kaithi Movie Review
From the makers of ‘Maanagaram’ that stole away everyone’s attention with an intriguingly appealing package, they are back with ‘Kaithi’ starring Karthi in lead role. The primary essence of attraction is the bold leap of Karthi in being a part of film that doesn’t delve him into the routine potboiler of romance, mass and songs. This indeed deserves a special mention for Karthi, especially to be a part of such a movie at this crucial point of his career. Of course, we are offered with a pleasing thriller that looks little stretched in places, but still an engrossing one.
The film’s plot is set around a night time, where a life term sentenced prisoner out on parole to meet his daughter for the first time since her birth is urged by situations to save an injured cop and get his mission accomplished on getting an infinite amount of narcotic drugs to the safer place.
It is evident that Lokesh Kanagaraj has invested his complete potentials of writing a gripping screenplay along with his team of writers. Anything looks substantial on the papers is sure to get translated into a powerful one on big screens. Kaithi keeps proving it evidently during many points. Lokesh has to thank his technical team, especially cinematographer Sathyan Sooryan and background score by Sam CS. The first hour swifts with an impeccable momentum without wasting a minute and in contrast, we get little restless by the second hour as the story remains confined to the same limited characters in a single night backdrop. Of course, this can’t be labeled on the flip side, but it would have been a better version with yet more trimmed duration.
Karthi’s dedication is purely awesome and he has very well carried the role with excellence. The chemistry that exists between him and Narain is much more appreciable. Almost all the actors in the film have been noted with good performance and that’s mainly due to the substantive characterizations penned by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
On the whole, Kaithi proves to be a very good attempt from the team and the thriller drama is pretty engaging.
