Sekhar Kammula is a prominent Indian film director, screenwriter, and producer known for his significant contributions to Telugu cinema. Born on February 4, 1972, in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, he was raised in Hyderabad, Telangana. Kammula’s educational journey is as diverse as his filmmaking career. He holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering from Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology, a Master of Science degree from Rutgers University, and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Howard University.

Kammula made his directorial debut with the independent film “Dollar Dreams” in 2000, which won him the National Film Award for Best First Film of a Director. He has since directed several critically and commercially successful Telugu films, including “Anand” (2004), “Godavari” (2006), “Happy Days” (2007), “Leader” (2010), “Fidaa” (2017), and “Love Story” (2021). His work has earned him two Filmfare Awards South and six state Nandi Awards.

In 2011, Kammula was part of a director’s delegation representing South Indian Cinema at the Cannes Film Festival. His films are known for their strong storytelling, relatable characters, and emotional depth, making him a beloved figure in the Indian film industry.
