Alangu Movie Review

Director Sakthivel Perumalsamy embarked on his directorial journey through an exceptionally good movie titled ‘Urumeen’, which despite having a good performers and plot failed to nail it down perfectly in the box office. After a long hiatus, he has made this movie titled ‘Alangu’, featuring Gunanidhi in the lead role with Ajesh as the music director.

The story revolves around a couple of men, whose unconditional love for a daughter and a dog respectively turns into an emotional turbulent journey.

One of the earnest things, in other words, the positive thing about the film is that there aren’t any antagonists in the movie, but all of them, showcase their fury and angst due to the situations. What’s so intriguing about the film is that the technical team’s proficiency to capture the ethereal beauty of nature. Special credits to the cinematographer and the DI-Grading team. The background score by Ajesh is yet another highlighting trait about the film. The director’s ability to showcase the importance of ‘Dog’ is excellent. In fact, the other animal creatures showcased through special visual effects is worthy of appreciations.

When it comes to performance, Gunanidhi as Dharman, has exhibited his acting nuances with best efforts. Be the scenes, where he is adamant in disobeying his mother, his moments with friends, and unconditional bonding with a dog, he has emoted very well. Chemban Vinod on the other hand, has done a marvellous acting. His affinity and unconditional love for his daughter is very well expressed by him. Sharath Appani playing his henchman has more prominence than Chemban, and he has come up with a commendable work.

On the flip side, the screenplay could have been more riveting with such a powerful plot. Nothing seems to be impressive, especially in the second half as the same forest regional moments that impressed us in initial moments, start boring us. On the other hand, when we look up for some emotional scene between the dog and protagonist, there seems to be nothing as expected.
