Parvathy Nair opens up about UV, YA and Ajith Kumar

Actress Parvathy Nair whom we have seen in Yennai Arindhaal returns to big screen in Uttama Villain. In this exclusive interview, she talks about Uttama Villain, her earlier movie Yennai Arindhaal and her future projects.

Q: You signed Uttama Villain even before Yennai Arindhaal. How did that offer come to you?

A: I was shooting for an Ad in Bangalore in the same house where Uttama Villain was also shot. Someone gave my pix to UV Casting team. So I got a call from them. Initially, I thought someone was playing a prank and didn’t believe them. After several calls, I realized it was for real and met the team and the director. They did a look test and confirmed me very quickly.

Q: When u realized you were going to work with an Acting Legend like Kamal Haasan, how was that feeling. How was it working with him?

A: Since it was at the beginning of my career, getting a chance to work with such a legend like Actor Kamal Haasan was such an unbelievable feeling. At the beginning of your career, if one gets to work with good actors and good directors, it helps a lot with your future projects. So in that way, I am very lucky to work with such a legend like Kamal Sir. I learnt a lot from him.

Q: How was it working with Dir Ramesh Aravind?

A: He is a very sweet person. Very calm. There was no stress at all with the unit. Since they are worked for some time before, there was lot of cohesiveness. Even though I was new, they made me comfortable in the sets.

Q: Uttama Villain also has four other Actresses – Urvashi, Pooja Kumar, Parvathy and Andrea. How was it working with them?

A: I was more close to Urvashi Madam and Parvathy. But I did have scenes with Andrea and Pooja also. We all got along well. It was lot of fun.

Q: How about working with legendary directors Late Dir K.Balachander and K.Vishwanath.

A: We have scenes in which the entire family gets together. So I had a chance to share screen with both the legends Dir K.Balachander and K.Vishwanath. Both of them were very sweet and lively.

Q: Let’s switch gears and talk about Yennai Arindhaal. How was the Post-release experience of Yennai Arindhaal?

A: I got an overwhelming feedback for my performance in Yennai Arindhaal and I would say, 95% is positive. Some were saying it was a bold move for me to play a character with negative shades. Wherever I went for college events, ppl were asking me to dance for Adhaaru Adhaaru song. It was a great experience.

Q: How was it working with Thala Ajith in YA?

A: Thala Ajith is the most honest, humble and genuine human being I have ever met. He is very nice. Very, very family oriented person.

Q: In Yennai Arindhaal, u were paired with Arun Vijay. Tell us something about him.

A: Actor Arun Vijay calls me his lucky charm. He is a good friend. Initially, we didn’t interact much. Later, we became good friends. He has a good screen presence. I am very happy that his Victor character was well received.

Q: It’s a dream for Actresses to work with Dir Gautham Vasudeva Menon.

A: He is also very sweet person. By the time I joined Yennai Arindhaal shoot, the shoot became very hectic and we were rushing. But he was very cool, calm and collected.

Q: Tell us something about your upcoming Kannada movie – Vascodigama. I heard you also have sung a song in that movie.

A: It’s a movie which looks at the present day education system. It has lot of humor. I would consider myself a decent singer. I think most good actors are good singers. Even though, my main focus will be acting, I would love to continue a parallel career in singing.

Q: What about your future projects? Have you signed any?

A: Yes. I have signed two projects. I will be starting a Malayalam project first then followed by Tamil. The concerned production houses will make official announcements soon.
