“I wasn’t the choice for all three films of Balaji Tharaneetharan” – Vijay Sethupathi
Actor Vijay Sethupathi gears up for the worldwide theatrical release of his 25th film ‘Seethakaathi’, which is directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan. Already, the fascination for this film is getting beyond the usual paradigms for a ‘Drama’ based film. While interacting with a leading newspaper, the actor says, “I wasn’t the choice for all three films of filmmaker Balaji Tharaneetharan.” He continues to add, “When the project ‘Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom was getting materialized, I wasn’t the initial choice of Balaji Tharaneetharan and it happened only after the filmmaker Aarumuga Kumar of ‘Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren’ fame and Prem Kumar (96 fame) suggested me. Similarly, I wanted to play the lead character in ‘Oru Pakka Kathai’, which didn’t happen as the protagonist’s character was somewhere between 18 and 20yrs age. I even asked Balaji if we can transform the character into post-college days for age. Aftermath, it happened same with Seethakaathi as he was looking up for several senior actors and then finally, I got the opportunity to be a part of it.”
Seethakaathi is scheduled for release on December 20 and is produced by Passion Studios.
