Prashanth’s Johnny in final stages of production

The film Johnny, starring Prasanth, is directed by Vetri Selvan, who was assistant to S. J. Surya and Jeeva Shankar. Prashanth is playing the lead role in this film, which features Sanchitha Shetty as the heroine.

It may be recalled, the 1st Johnny, made in 1980, was starring Superstar Rajinikanth (in a double role) and directed by Mahendran. This title was bought after the proper legal procedure. Vetri Selvan is making his debut as a director. He had worked as Assistant to directors S. J. Suryah and Jeeva Shankar. Others in the cast include Prabhu, Anand Raj, Kalairani, Devadarshini, Ashutosh Rana, Sayaji Shinde, and few others are doing important roles.

It is learnt that Johnny may be the remake of the hugely successful Hindi film, ‘Johnny Gaddar’, which indeed was loosely based on Hollywood film ‘Reservoir Dogs’. It belongs to the genre of a suspense thriller. The production is in the final stages. Thyagarajan is producing the film under the banners of Star Movies. Panneerselvam is the cinematographer. The director Vetri Selvan observed that Johnny may be a turning point for actor Prasanth in his film career.
