Some of the box office figures which are doing the rounds in social networking sites say that Papanasam has collected nearly 100 crores at the box office and the team too is proudly posting it their profiles.

But the truth is that the film has apparently got 12.5 cr as distributor share and grossed just above 35 crs at Tamil Nadu box office.

The world wide gross collection figure of the film might be around 36-38 crores (approx). Adding the satellite rights, the film might end up as a decent profit to the producers whereas it is an above average venture for the distributors.
