All decks cleared for Papanasam

Malayalam blockbuster Drishyam has been in the headlines for one major reason. It drew the attention of one and all when ‘Ulaganayakan’ Kamal Haasan chose to do the Tamil remake. The Tamil version titled Papanasam starring Kamal Haasan and Gouthami has been talk of the town, since the day the shoot began. Expectations among movie-lovers is on a high. Interestingly Jeetu Joseph, who helmed the original, is directing Papanasam too.

Now a great news awaits movie-lovers and fans of Ulaganayakan. The Second Additional District Court, Ernakulam has dismissed a suit filed by Sateesh Paul against the producers and Jeethu Joseph, claiming that the story of Dhrishyam was a copyright violation of his novel Oru Mazhakalath.

The shooting of Papanasam was initially been stalled by Satheesh Paul, who had obtained an interim injunction but the producers managed to vacate the injunction and contested the case.

After hearing both sides the District Court has finally dismissed the claims of Satheesh Paul and on merit has passed an order in favour of the producers and Jeethu Joseph.

The good news is that the verdict clearly puts to rest the entire controversy. Papanasam is nearing completion and is expected to hit the theaters this summer.
