Director Mari Selvaraj has created a decent array of movies like Pariyerum Perumal and Maamannan. The director’s next is ‘Vaazhai’ that features a commendable bunch of actors like Kalaiarasan, Divya Bharthi and Nikhila Vimal.

The story revolves round a A twelve-year-old boy named Sivanandhan, along with his mother, sister, and friend, faces various challenges in life, with a plantain tree, known as Vaazhai, serving as a significant focal point in their journey.

Mari Selvaraj has always used a refined and stubborn writing, where he never misses to showcase the harsh reality of pain and pathos. Well, this film has yet another hard-hitting portrayal of the director’s whole memories and experiences that he conveys through the visuals. When it comes to performances, his sharp delineation of characterisations, help the actors to deliver commendable acting. Be it kalaiarasan, Divya Bharathi or Nikhila Vimal alongside others, they have exerted their inmost emotions that the characters and the film deserve. The film’s narrative is slightly dramatic and slow, but doesn’t irk you out.

Technically, the film has its best highlighting traits with classic visuals, and the music is appreciable as well.

Time and again, we are coming across the brutal and Harshest portrayal of caste based movies in Tamil industry, and this one is the latest to join the league.

The film is a ‘Drama’ and it will be appealing to the lovers of this genre.
