Lal Salaam Movie Review

Director Aishwarya Rajnikanth, made her directorial debut almost 10 years ago with ‘3’, which with its re-release fared well now recently. The filmmaker’s second outing ‘Lal Salaam’, featuring Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the lead roles with special appearance of Superstar Rajinikanth, is produced by Lyca Productions.

The story that is reported to be based on real life incidents by the makers is set around a rural area in Tamil Nadu and the time is 1993. A communal harmony between Hindu and Muslim is disrupted by political miscreants, which leaves many villagers drenched in trouble. Moreover, things get awry when the ritual village festival is ruined. A youngster (Vishnu Vishal) gets released from prison after 6 months for a crime, and has now earned the wrath of Moideen Bhai (Rajnikanth). What’s the real crime he committed? What actually happened during that time?

Since, the story is based on the real incident, we’re intrigued by few moments. Aishwarya Rajinikanth has given equal importance to all the characters in this movie. Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth have equal importance, but its Superstar Rajinikanth, who rules the show. His episodes involving strong dialogues are clap worthy. Senthil and Thambi Ramaiah are given important characters, and they’ve nailed it down neatly.

AR Rahman’s musical score is a major plus. He enhances the emotions of the story with his BGM. Cinematography is literally amazing, where the village festival and cricket games are finely captured.

On the whole, Lal Salaam is a movie that encompasses the beauty of communal and regional harmony, importance of native elements like village festival and lots more that transcends the humanity
