The film’s title (That remains to be the one from 1967 blockbuster hit movie), the protagonist being visually impaired and a mystery that strongly revolves around him. These three aspects kept the buffs adhered to movie and do you get what you expected from this film? Here is the exclusive analysis of Kalaiyarasan-Janani Iyer-Sshivada Nair starrer ‘Adhe Kangal’, directed by Rohin Venkatesan and produced by CV Kumar of Thirukumaran Entertainment.
Kalaiyarasan falls in love with a late night visitor (Sshivada Nair) for who he immediately falls in love with
A visually impaired chef (Kalaiyarasan) is always on topic of media channels for his versatile dishes in his restaurant. Supported his close friend (Janani Iyer), a journalist, he fails to realize that she has a love for him in the span of 7 years. But he falls in love with a late night visitor (Sshivada Nair) for who he immediately falls in love with. But things take an ugly turn of mysteries and twists in the next abrupt sequences, where he gets back his eye vision, but is left with unsolvable mystery around disappearance of the visitor, who is his sweetheart now.
The last 25 minutes of the film, where the process of unraveling mystery is done with decent approach.
Maybe, glimpsing on this synopsis, you could fill yourselves with high expectations and decide to get glued upon the screens, but what you get over the experience is completely different. The screenplay is too predictable that you’ll find what’s going happen next in short span of time. The director could have made a perfect game play among the characters that would have kept the audiences on guessing mode till end, but it doesn’t happen here. The film actually travels with decent pace and gripping moments till Kalaiyarasan gets his vision followed by his rescue mission turning out to be disastrous. But eventually, what unfolds next is a vague screenplay, where even the process of unraveling mysteries by Kalaiyarasan looks so ridiculous that too with Bala Saravanan. The last 25 minutes of the film, where the process of unraveling mystery is done with decent approach. Musical score by Ghibran doesn’t go well with the film. He is known as master of melodies, but here he fails to deliver what we expect from him.
Sshivada Nair is perfect with her performance and Bala Saravanan in few places evokes right dose of humour.
Kalaiyarasan actually performs well with good scope for the initial moments, but then the graph goes down after he gets back his eyesight. There doesn’t happen to be any scope for him. Janani Iyer appears for namesake and it looks like the characterization of journalist doesn’t help her anywhere except one or two sequences. Sshivada Nair is perfect with her performance and Bala Saravanan in few places evokes right dose of humour.
Overall, Adhey Kangal is a passable thriller where you make right guess and predict what’s happening next that makes your experience less than your expected levels.
