Are these two scenes in Ponniyin Selvan inspired SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali?
Filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 is all set for the worldwide theatrical release on September 30, 2022. The movie is getting released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. During this juncture, there are few curious investigators, who have thoroughly read the epic book written by Amarar Kalki already. Few buzzes are that SS Rajamouli had already taken few shots from this book and adapted it well to his magnum opus Baahubali as well. One of them is the new born baby lifted by a hand (Ramya Krishnan’s character) and getting safely commuted to the other shore. In this movie, there is a particular scene, where Sundara Cholan along with his family comprising wife, three children – Aditha Karikalan, Kundhavai and Arulmozhi Varman are vacationing through ship.
During a cyclonic effect, Arulmozhi Varman falls into the river, and a lady saves him. On the other hand, the scene that became so popular in Baahubali 2 was Rana Daggubati taking over the position of Prabhas’ throne due to some reasons. In similar, the book of Ponniyin Selvan actually ends with Raja Raja Chozhan (Arulmozhi Varman) gives over his throne to Madurantaka. Well, these are just the references from the book, and we need to wait and watch them on big screens. On the other hand, SS Rajamouli during the promotions of Baahubali 1 mentioned that the baby scene has so many references in Hindu Mythology like Karnan in Mahabharatham and Moses in Old Testament of Holy Bible.
