Was this original climax of STR’s Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu?

Silambarasan TR starrer Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and produced by Dr. Ishari K Ganesh of Vels Film International got released on September 15, 2022. Despite the mixed results, the movie has managed to sweep a decent opening weekend collection for the STR-Gautham Vasudev Menon- AR Rahman factor.

While the shooting of this film was completed before a long time, it is said that the production team wasn’t happy with the film’s climax. The actual climax is where Silambarasan and Siddhi elope to Lucknow leaving behind all the worst nightmares in Mumbai. They start a new life in the city, and the movie ends on a note, where STR walks into the hair saloon, and comes across a surprise to see Neeraj, who along with his girlfriend is present there. Both of them are happily married and leading a peaceful life. This particular shot is where Neeraj gives a silent smile for STR, and the movie ends there, which gives different perspectives – One is that both of them have left the underworld and another one – Both are operating from Lucknow that remains obscure to everyone.

However, we see the same shot in the newly added climax, where STR is with the grown beard in the hair saloon owned by Neeraj, which is a small part of portion.
